DALLAS, TX – Dallas attorney and candidate for Texas House District 100, Eric Johnson, announced today that his campaign has been formally endorsed by nearly 500 individuals, including a majority of the Democratic precinct chairpersons in the district. On Johnson’s list of endorsers are several well-known community activists in Texas House District 100, including many prominent business owners, religious and non-profit leaders, and long-time district residents.

“We are working hard to elect Democrats up and down the ballot and we need to field the best team possible against an energized Republican Party,” said Lamontry Lott, a Democratic precinct chairperson in Texas House District 100. “Eric Johnson has earned the support of a majority of the precinct chairs in our district because we are ready to move in a new direction and make a clean break with the past.”

Having already announced the support of such prominent Democrats as Dallas County District Attorney Craig Watkins and former State Representative Sam Coats, Johnson’s impressive list of endorsers from within Texas House District 100 is a testament to the depth and breadth of support Johnson has within the district, which is clearly ready for change.

“District 100 faces real challenges with struggling schools, disproportionally high crime, and a serious need for more jobs and businesses,” said Anna Hill, president of the Dolphin Heights Neighborhood Association. “We need someone in Austin like Eric Johnson, who will do all he can to make state government part of the solution.”

The business community in Texas House District 100 has also come out strongly in favor of Johnson’s new emphasis on economic development and bringing more jobs to the district.

“The business community needs a state representative who will partner with us to bring more jobs to this area. A state representative who will lead by example and move the district office back into the district would be a nice start,” said Jan Gore, owner of Texas Caribbean Foods, which is located in Texas House District 100. “I trust Eric Johnson to go to work on long term issues like education and infrastructure as well as more immediate concerns like our access to capital and loans.”

Johnson, who was born and raised in Texas House District 100, expressed gratitude for the support of such a large and diverse group of district leaders.

“I am both humbled and elated to have the endorsement of so many leaders and long time residents of our district, several of whom I have known and admired for years. Many of the people on my endorsement list have a long history of standing up for our community, and now that they are publicly standing up for me, I will not let them down,” said Johnson.
