8th Annual New Play Competition
a showcase of literary talent

We’ve invited six local playwrights to an all out brawl center stage for a chance to win two roundtrip airline tickets and $1,000 cash. Audience members vote for their favorite one-act play each night. On closing night, we tally all the votes and award the cash and prizes. It’s an unprecedented night of original theatre. Let’s get ready to rumble. There is sure to be a knock out!
Submission Guidelines: Remuneration: $1,000 stipend to the winning playwright and two (2) roundtrip airline tickets. Frequency: Annual. Length: 15-20 minutes. Subject: 80s theme. Style: Comedy. Author Must Be: Resident of metro Dallas. Production: Cast of 1 – 4, minimal costumes, set and light changes. Material Must Be: unoptioned, unproduced, and unpublished. Application: unsolicited material – full script returned with self- addressed stamped envelope. Deadline: Postmarked by 12/15/2009. Response: 1-2 months.

featuring TeCo’s T-An-T (Teenagers and Theater) apprenticeship students
April 23 – 25, 2010
Hamlet is the son of the late King Hamlet, who died two months before the start of the play. After King Hamlet’s death, his brother, Claudius, becomes king, and marries King Hamlet’s widow, Gertrude. Young Hamlet fears that Claudius killed his own brother to become king of Denmark, greatly angering Hamlet. Two officers, Marcellus and Barnardo, summon Hamlet’s friend Horatio, and later Hamlet himself to see the late King Hamlet’s ghost appear at midnight. The ghost tells Hamlet privately that Claudius had indeed murdered King Hamlet by pouring poison in his ear. Hamlet is further enraged and plots of how to revenge his father’s death.
TeCo’s T-An-T (Teenagers and Theater) students culminate an intensive, four-month apprenticeship featuring youth participants with electrifying night of performances.
