The Marcus Graham Project kicks off its 5th annual Boot camp program for aspiring professionals to become trailblazers in the Marketing, Advertising & Media Industry.

The Marcus Graham Project (MGP), a Dallas based non-profit organization, is working to bring diversity and a new supply of young talent into these professions through its iCr8 Summer Boot Camp program.  This is the 5th (milestone) year of the summer program and features 14 marketing, advertising and media professionals from five different countries outside of the United States, who have come together to launch ‘Y5’ an Advertising & Marketing Agency that specializes in the digital and social media space.

“Y5 is the essence of creativity; we have the definition of diversity within our team.  Creativity is born from diversity, from having multiple perspectives, and the ability to think differently,” said Cynthia Newman, Creative Director at Y5. “As this collective mind we can connect with almost anyone, plus, through today’s mediums which are innate to Y5, we can also connect at any time.”

Y5 brings the power to connect with brands more than ever before.  The digital and social media agency is the link between the global community and today’s culture, and as such, we have a global vision with a youthful perspective.  Y5 is ‘the Universal Language’.

This year’s participants, include: Aidan Sykes, Toronto, ON; Alvaro Gabaldon, Tampa, FL; Blake Roberts, Chicago, IL; Christopher Williams, Orange, CA; Cynthia Newman, Newport, UK; Dai Cao, Vietnam; Jean Middleton, Phoenix, AZ; Lamon Bethel, Nassau, Bahamas; Marcus Rosendoll, Arlington, TX; Maria Florez Lopez, Madrid, Spain; Remy Sylvan, Seattle, WA; Rosi Linda Sanchez, Dallas, TX; Troy Harris, Decatur, GA; Xavier Green, Philadelphia, PA
The boot camp team’s first assignment was to develop an advertising agency that will run for the entire summer. This assignment was successfully presented on June 3rd, the first day of the iCR8 Summer Boot Camp.  The presentation took place at TM Advertising, the Dallas-based agency, which serves as the team’s offices for the summer.

Sponsors for the program include: Translation, MDC Partners, IM’PART (Advertising Club of New York), Deutsch, Butler, Shine, Stern, and Partners; 4A’s; McCann, Deutsch, Wieden+Kennedy; Y&R; RAPP; TPN, Omnicom Group; TM Advertising; American Airlines; and Nooka.

Sponsors have contributed so the team will be able to travel to Dallas, live together at South Side on Lamar as well as take a trip to New York to interview with some of Madison Avenue’s leading agencies.

Documenting History
In an effort to share the Marcus Graham Project experience with the world, Y5 will have a camera following them around to document their personal journey through the program. The students will release their footage as a web series named “Tone of Voice’ with a purpose to connect, engage and sell Y5 as a global brand to clients and consumers.  New episodes will be posted every Monday at 3 p.m. seen on the blog.

In addition to the web series, Y5 will host MGP’s radio show entitled, The Drum, in partnership with Neo Soul Café.  This is a venue for the members of Y5 to share their experiences and give book reviews on required readings from the MGP curriculum. Listeners are encouraged to call and tweet in, to have their questions answered during the show.  The Drum is broadcast live on the Neo Soul Cafe radio channel, mobile app or at

Meet Y5
Every Friday throughout the summer Y5 will host The Lemonade Stand, a social networking event held at the MGP Dallas headquarters. This event will provide the media and public an opportunity to meet this year’s boot camp team.  To arrange an interview, or for more information about Y5 please contact Lincoln Stephens at 972.897.9985 or
