DSN Newswire

The Century Scholars Program (CSP) is a partnership between Texas A&M University and 90 high schools throughout the state of Texas. Established in 1999, the Century Scholars Program is an academic scholarship and retention program seeking to increase the number of enrolled and retained students from under-represented Texas high schools. The program serves as a four-year learning community in which its students are developed holistically and prepared for the rigors of the academic and professional arenas.

The Century Scholars Program provides both financial and academic support to students. Lancaster High School is very excited to announce that three students have been chosen as Century Scholars:

  • Izayah Allen
  • Josymne Megafu
  • Joseph Taylor

Students selected as Century Scholars are awarded $20,000 over four years, as well as a $1,000 Study Abroad Stipend. The Century Scholars Program is more than just a monetary award; it offers students access to a first-rate education and programs that prepare students to become state, national, and world leaders:

  • Academic support and hands-on contact with advisors
  • Mentorships with faculty and former students
  • Monthly meetings to promote academic achievement and professional development
  • Recognition as a Century Scholars Ambassador

As Ambassadors, Century Scholars receive professional training in public speaking, interviewing, and presentation skills. The students return to their former high schools to share their experiences.
