For one night only, the two senior performing companies of Dallas Black Dance Theatre will captivate audiences in the city of Ft. Worth. Presenting Dancing Beyond Borders on Friday, March 29 at the W. E. Scott Theatre, both companies will perform crowd pleasing works from their Dallas Seasons.
Thinking of You, an original work by Philadelphia choreographer Rennie Harris, takes Hip Hop to new heights. The masterwork was created especially for Dallas Black Dance Theatre and debuted during their Winter Series in Dallas at the Wyly Theatre. Highly stylized, Harris’ piece highlighted the versatility of the senior company and proved why DMagazine voted them Dallas’ Best Dance Company.
Dallas Black Dance Theatre II’s performance of Supernova, by Zach Law Ingram (former DBDT dancer and Lion King cast member) left Dallas audiences spellbound. The fast paced, highly charged work showcased the athleticism, technique and beauty of the dancers.
Featured guests for the performance will be Ft. Worth’s Ballet Frontier of Texas. Led by artistic director Chung –Lin Tseng, the company performs a full repertoire of classical ballets and modern works. The dance academy of Ballet Frontier has provided professional level training to Ft. Worth area dancers for the past eight years.
Serving as Honorary Chair for the series is Bertha DeGraffenreid Scott. Ms. Scott is an active member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. and currently serves on the Standards Investigative Team Evaluative Committee for the South Central Region.
