Leading non-partisan national youth empowerment organization Voto Latino, Chairwoman Rosario Dawson co-founded, offers a free music compilation as a means of engaging and empowering the Latino population in the political process.

The compilation, available exclusively on Voto Latino’s Facebook page, consists of songs from influential artists of all genres and walks of life including platinum-selling and Grammy-winning artists PitbullLos Tigres del NorteOzomatliLos Lobos and Zoé, as well as buzz-heavy new artists like Miguel,Rodrigo y GabrielaAna TijouxKat DelunaGirl In a Coma and Mariachi El Bronx.

When supporters visit Voto Latino’s Facebook page and download their music, they will plug in to a social experience that keeps them engaged in voter registration and other key issues throughout 2012.

“Music is an incredible motivator to learn more about the political process,” says Voto Latino CEO/President Maria Teresa Kumar.  Voto Latino’s 2010 Census campaign saw tens of thousands of young people redeeming free songs from the Voto Latino/iTunes compilation after taking a pledge to be counted.

“We now want to translate that pledge to the polls. The iTunes compilation sparks the interest. Voto Latino shows how easy it is to register, vote and carve out our community’s future together.”

Added Dawson, “Our interest is to keep bringing people into the political mix.  Everyone should have an understanding of the system whether or not they’re eligible to vote and we believe that offering free music through social media platforms will help continue to motivate and engage those that may not already be a part of the conversation.”

The compilation is culturally diverse with mainstream and Latin pop songs side by side with Regional Mexican, Rock/Alternative, Hip-Hop, Brazilian and Christian music representing the cultural diversity of Latinos in the United States.  The following is a list of tracks on the exclusive sampler:
