El Ranchito in Oak Cliff brings Monterrey cuisine to Southern Dallas

El Ranchito is one of Oak Cliff’s prominent Mexican restaurants and neighbors the Bishop Arts District of Dallas. For over 25 years owners Oscar and Laura Sanchez have graced Oak Cliff with authentic Mexican cuisine remnant of their native region of Monterrey, Mexico.

In addition to El Ranchito, the Sanchez Family own and operate the Mexican seafood restaurant, La Calle Doce, which has two locations in Dallas. Recently, I was a guest of their exclusive menu sampling for the local press at El Ranchito.

During the cocktail mingle, prior to dinner, I chose to sample the excellent Ponche de Jamaica- a sensuous island blend that encapsulates the very essence of a tropical paradise.  The first course of the evening was Parrillada Mexican: A montage of tender grilled chunks of chicken and beef fajitas, sausage, shrimp, and ribs served with charro beans and rice on a Mexican parrilla.

Next, we indulged in El Ranchito’s signature dish, Cabrito A La Parrilla. This delectable entrée consists of grilled baby goat served family style with rice, charro beans, guacamole, and pico de gallo. El Ranchito prides itself on being first in Dallas to introduce Mollejas (Mexican sweetbreads) to the area. This tantalizing menu item is served in freshly prepared tortillas, alongside onions and charro beans.

The Guiso Norteño (beef tenderloin  marinated in tomato salsa topped with cheese) was a perfect fusión!  The Carne Adobada boasted tender pork loin marinated in chile ancho.

Godiva White Chocolate Martini

The Grande Finale of the evening arrived with the delivery of the dessert medley!  Laura’s Signature Flan along with the Tres Leches cake immediately satisfied my sweet tooth! These desserts coupled with the Godiva White Chocolate Martini were true crowd pleasers!

We were fortunate to feast on tasty treats while being serenaded by a live Mariachi band! Restaurant manager, Juan Sanchez said that patrons from all over North Texas frequent El Ranchito because of its atmospheric trifecta: Fiesta (party), Mariachis (music), and the signature Cabrito (good food).

Just when you think you’ve been spoiled beyond measure with spectacular food and entertainment, the staff solidifies the dining experience with an uncompromising approach to hospitality! For a restaurant that embraces the best cuisine of Northern Mexico coupled with Tex-Mex, El Ranchito fits the bill!
