WWCD? What Will (Mayor) Caraway Do?

Soon to be Mayor Dwaine Caraway

The truth is Caraway has proven himself to be a strong politician and a force on the council.  He campaigned fervently for the Convention Center Hotel while finding himself on the opposite end of the Wet/Dry vote.  His allies on the council are on both sides of the Trinity, though some of his colleagues are less than enthusiastic about the press that he gets, and that was before Super Bowl weekend.  It will probably take every ounce of energy for some of them to call him Mayor Caraway.

It won’t be all roses for the incoming mayor and there will be some negative reactions.  But the fact is Caraway has effectively advocated on behalf of District 4 and truth be told he’s made a positive impact in other districts as well. I know sometime members of the council have a problem with their colleagues stepping into their fiefdom’s but if it’s good for one district it’s good for all of Dallas.

Caraway is knowledgeable on all issues, conveys his ideas in a forward manor and is a man with vision.  I think the couple of months he’ll spend as mayor will be good for his own governance and good for the city too. I know for a fact that he respects the office and is honored by the opportunity to serve the city in this way.

What Will Caraway Do?  I’m not sure, but I’m looking forward to finding out.

    Good commentary, Shawn. Very objective.

Great piece, Shawn! I am actually excited to see what he will do as Mayor, since I have witnessed fristhand his visionary ideals in an Oak Cliff COC Meeting and at the ULGDYP Meeting last year.
