Dallas South News Wire (Texans Can Academy)

Texans Can! is accepting vehicles around the clock for 2010 tax write-offs until the last tick-tock in 2010.  They are open 24 hours a day to accept vehicles including all day on New Year’s Eve so the public can earn last minute tax deductions.

The public can donate any type of vehicle or heavy equipment, running or not.  The nonprofit school for at-risk high school students provides free towing for anyone who would like to donate their car, truck, van, boat, R/V, trailer, jet ski, heavy equipment, etc. If the title is not available, Texans Can! staff has the information needed to receive a title for the vehicle.

Full fair market value for donations is given in most cases, giving donors the best tax deduction within the IRS guidelines.  The car intake center will be open extended hours for a one day car-a-thon with extra employees and volunteers available to receive vehicles, pick-up vehicles and complete necessary tax donation forms on New Year’s Eve.  This is a great opportunity for a 2010 tax write-off, to clear out driveway space where vehicles have been sitting and change a life at the same time.

Celebrating more than 25 years of serving academically at-risk youth, Texans Can! is a non-profit organization that offers a unique network of 10 public schools of choice located throughout Texas.  More than 4,500 students a year are getting a second chance at life by enrolling in the tuition-free, open enrollment charter schools that provide a second chance for at-risk youth and their families through relationship-based education.

Vehicles may be dropped off anytime between now and midnight, December 31st.  The car in-take center is open 24 hours

Texans Can! Cars for Kids is located at 1911 East Division in Arlington, Texas  76011

Donations help the schools close the gap of $1,200 less per student than other public schools received from State education funds.  “Write off the car, not the kid” has been a Texans Can! axiom for many years.  By the public donating cars, boats and trucks more than 4,500 young Texans a year between the ages of 14 and 21 who are at-risk, disadvantaged youth and have dropped out of their traditional schools are able to continue their education.

Texans Can! campuses are open and tuition-free to any student who wants to enroll. The community at large benefits when more students graduate from high school — by saving taxpayer dollars for public assistance programs, expanding tax revenues, reducing crime and increasing the likelihood they will become good citizens.
