Dallas South News Wire (DART)

DART’s Green Line is the best play for fans heading to the Cotton Bowl to watch the Northwestern Wildcats and Texas Tech Red Raiders bring in the new year at the first-ever Ticket City Bowl scheduled for 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 1, 2011.

The Cotton Bowl at the historic Texas State Fairgrounds is served by two DART Rail Green Line stations — Fair Park, located on Parry Avenue at the entrance to the fairgrounds, and MLK, Jr., located south of R.B. Cullum Blvd. and convenient to the MLK fairground entrance (Gate 6) and the Cotton Bowl Stadium.

The 28-mile Green Line, which was completed on December 6, travels northwest to southeast connecting Carrollton, Farmers Branch, northwest Dallas, downtown Dallas, Deep Ellum, south Dallas and Pleasant Grove with Fair Park. Transfers to the Green Line from both the Red and Blue lines are easy at any of the four CBD rail stations, West End, Akard, St. Paul or Pearl.

DART Rail has special New Year’s Day schedule

DART Rail and buses will follow Sunday schedule except for additional light rail service for the game. There is no Trinity Railway Express service on New Year’s Day.

BEFORE THE GAME

Starting at 7:10 a.m., DART Rail will operate on 10-minute intervals for Red Line departures from Parker Road Station.

Additional Red Line trains from Parker Road Station to MLK, Jr. Station will be available until 10 a.m. prior to the football game. These trains will provide service to all stations from Parker Road through downtown Dallas and on to Cedars Station before reaching MLK, Jr., Station. Look for the trains with the destination sign SPECIAL.

Green Line trains will depart North Carrollton/Frankford Station every 15 minutes. Blue Line trains will follow a regular Sunday schedule.

AFTER THE GAME

Red Line trains from MLK, Jr. Station to Parker Road Station will be available until approximately 2 hours after game time. Note: Northbound Red Line trains will not allow passengers to get on or off the train at Fair Park Station. These trains will stop at Baylor University Medical Center and Deep Ellum stations and all stations between Cityplace Station and Parker Road Station. These trains will not serve any downtown stations.

Regular Green Line service from MLK, Jr. and Fair Park stations both north and southbound.
