Dallas South News Wire (Rep. Johnson’s Office)

Congresswoman Johnson is in full support of H.R. 5283, the Help Haiti Act  that was created to help the American families, who have opened their hearts and homes to around 1200 Haitians left orphaned by the cataclysmic January 12 earthquake, be able to legally adopt them. Although the Help Haiti Act has passed the House and the Senate, it was recently pulled for final consideration.

“I support the desire of American families to provide for children in need of a permanent family through adoption – especially in the case of the Haitians who have experienced such a devastating loss of life,” said Congresswoman Johnson. “The Haiti Act is an attempt to reduce bureaucratic red tape while providing some relief, establishing stability and offering hope for orphans, as well as American families willing to adopt.”
