From the Dallas South News Wire

With the greatest appreciation for every woman who reaches out to another in need in our community, Methodist Charlton Medical Center has established the Methodist Charlton Medical Center Light Award. The new annual Methodist Charlton Medical Center Light Award will recognize a first lady or woman in ministry whose leadership and community service has greatly improved the lives of women in the Methodist Charlton Medical Center service area.

The award will acknowledge the recipient’s work and involvement in programs and services that have documented favorable results in changing a significant number of individuals’ physical, spiritual, and or emotional health, with a special focus on health and physical fitness, nutrition, and overall choices that support a healthier lifestyle.

The Methodist Charlton Light Award recipient will be chosen by audience vote from among the top three honorees selected and presented at the First Ladies and Women in Ministry Brunch in August. The honoree nomination committee is made up of Methodist Charlton employees, community members, and church leaders. The deserving recipient of the award will receive a $1,000 donation to their organization or foundation to continue their recognized work. If the effort no longer exists, the donation can go to a properly organized charity of the recipient’s choice. Methodist Charlton will bestow one award every year.

If you would like to apply or nominate a first lady or woman in ministry for the award, please complete the application by July 27, 2010 and deliver to Methodist Charlton Medical Center, Light Award Committee, Attention: Cynthia Mickens-Smith, Methodist Charlton Medical Center, 3500 West Wheatland Road, Dallas, Texas 75237. For more information, contact Cynthia Mickens-Smith at 214-947-5204 or CynthiaMickensSmith@mhd.com
