The fist bump (or pound) has been around for years, but this Android and iPhone app takes it a little further. The Bump app, created by Bump Technologies, Inc., is a quick and easy way to connect two phones by simply bumping them together. It allows you to exchange phone numbers, contact info, photos, or files with just a bump.
A friend of mine introduced me to the Bump app when we were “talking tech” and I found it to be a useful app on both my Apple and Android device. A fun feature on the iPhone app, is the ability to connect with Facebook to find common friends with someone you’ve Bumped with.
During those times when I don’t have a business card with me, I’ve been able to Bump my contact info to a potential client. Sharing pictures with family and friends is a breeze and with the Android version you’re even allowed to share apps via Bump.
With Bump you are also able to exchange money via PayPal. Bump is integrated into the PayPal app, so all have to do is log in to your account, enter an amount and bump. The money moves immediately from the payer to the payee. This is great for those business owners who may not have access to a credit card reader or for those who want an easy way accept contributions for their charity.
With the increasing number of Apple and Android devices on the market, this app is definite hit for those looking for a new way to share their personal or business information. Bump is compatible with the iPod Touch, iPad, iPhone and Android handsets and can be found in their respective app markets.
Update 07/29/10: I received an email from a representative at Bump Technologies and he informed of a new 2.0 release of Bump for the iPhone. I’ve updated it on my iPod Touch and it’s nice. Check out the Bump Blog for more information.
