I TOTALLY DISAGREE…this world is NOT colorblind…teach your kids to LOVE EVERY thing about themselves including their eyes, hair, skin, etc… NOT acknowledging those things will set them up for failure.

The bottom line is so called good hair, fair skin and streamlined features will not protect you when the catagorization goes down. Love the skin you are in so it can’t be played on by someone. If Tiger Woods was comfortable in his skin, the money and fame wouldn’t matter. He would know he always has a home.

I agree totally. Race is the culprit of racism. If we never had a way of classifying ourselves, then we would not be so inclined to discriminate based on those classifications. I never learned race in taxonomy, so I choose not to be part of any “race”.

I’m kinda with Cypher on this one and someway towards the fence. However, travelling daily to and from work with a bus/train-load of badly weaved black women who would rather walk around with dreadful thatches on their head at some poor imitation of a European woman rather than sporting their own precious locks – tells me that we have such a high degree of self loathing that massive amounts of self-love and telling our children how beautiful they are etc, is required.

I have fought this battle with my own family and won…even had one comb out my child’s newly twisted locks…let’s just say she never touched her hair again after we talked. You cant go around pretending that race doesnt matter when it does…racism is as strong as ever and the only way to protect the children is to teach them to KNOW they ARE beautiful and strong and talented no matter how dark or light their skin is.

Malcolm X once claimed that the media is the most powerful entity on this planet because it controls the minds of the masses. I think a lot of our black entertainers and athletes fall victim to that, due to the different perception black and white ladies have in society as the author stated. Carter G. Woodson famously said “If you can control a man’s thinking you do not have to worry about his action.” Until we as black people start reducing our television (tell-lies-to-your-vision) time and glorify our greatness, then the negative trend will continue. We have to kill the mindset of thinking everything white is godly and everything black is devilish.

I’m from you UK, and every other black guy here goes for white women. It’s hard to find a black guy that is interested in black women. But to be honest white women can have them, their stupid and poor and usually uneducated. I think as black people we can focus on the negative to much. All women of all colors want to look beautiful. Some people are good looking and others are not. It’s just the way it is. When White women use fake tan or blow up their lips we don’t get this debate. I think the best features on black women are our skin, it looks nice in with all clothes and it ages well. However we scar badly. Also ourr lips, bum and bone structure. White women have the hair, the straight nose and white men that have money. The first thing about being a human is excepting that we will not all have perfection in every area and making the most of what you have, so if its in a bad weave as someone said so be it. Get over it, there are more important things black people need to worry about than looks or Tiger Woods. Like how to get to Obama’s status with a black woman by your side!! I am a well educated black woman with my own money, I’m looking for an
African American in London with the same. Please send him my way…

I can’t argue with the young brotha about why Tiger only chose White women,except for the part about him being repulsed by Black women. There might even be Black women out there that we don’t know about because the Black woman chose to be quiet. But tiger’s actions could be because he respected the Asians and black women more or because White women are more likely to throw themselves at him. I could be wrong but I really don’t see Tiger as the type to chase after these White women except for his wife. Having been in these kinds of situations myself, the racist notion that it’s Black men lusting and chasing after White women is a racist lie which has been with us ever since the race issue was brought up during slavery. In Psychology it’s called displacement where you put your urges and feelings on someone else. Old massa chasing slave women made it look like it was the slave women chasing him, that the male slaves lusted after White women. And so they actually had laws to make sure Black men didn’t bother White women. But Ol massa himself was never punished for his indiscretions and we see his results today. Look at Thomas Jefferson and Sally Hemings. He ended up being President of the United States.

I agree when Rajen says that, “So all of the media hype about white women has been so ingrained into them…” But the media hype is about White people in general, which is why you have many Asian women using skin lightener. Europeans running around discovering the world, put their brand on this planet. And I disagree when he says, “he (the Black man) doesn’t know why he dislikes black women.” Who says these Black men dislike Black women. I agree that there are those who, by there actions, seem to hate Black women. If Tiger has been partying with the likes of Jay-Z and Chris Brown, wouldn’t someone have said that they could see he doesn’t like Black women? I think the point is that Black women, as I’ve heard said many times in the past, are more conservative than White women although the stereotype is the opposite. They are less likely to throw themselves at these Black athletes than White women are. I also think that thanks to the racist stereotype of the size of the Black man’s organs, it makes some White women even more likely to throw themselves at Black men.

Rajen says to teach our kids that “It aint about skin,” which contradicts the point of Black men being with White women. It is about the skin and the sex of the person with that skin. The first interracial (Black with White) kissing scene included Captain Kirk on Star Trek. But we’ve never had problems with White men kissing and having sex with women of other races. That’s the way we’ve been conditioned from the movies to the lynchings in the South. Rajan makes many good points about what we must do to end this self hate, because we do have self hate. We’ve been placed in a category, and the racism isn’t going anywhere soon. I wish the racism would go away, I wish there wasn’t such a shortage of Black men for Black women, I wish so many Black men were not in prison. But the one thing I don’t see, is trying to say that Black men are with White women because of self hate. That may be the case with some Black men but not all. And I am bothered by the fact that it is taken for granted that Tiger slept with all these White women. I’m sure there are some fakes in the bunch. It always happens so why should Tiger be the exception? The media has exploded a phenomenon, Black men with White women, something that appears to have been but has never really been truly accepted in this racist society. Tiger, Kobe, and OJ are clear examples of the media acting on the subconscious and showing why races shouldn’t mix (in terms of men of other races with White women.) I feel Rajen is doing the job for the likes of the late young George Wallace and Strom Thurmond by rehashing old stereotypes of big/thick-lipped Black men lusting after their women.

Black people love white women because they don’t know any better. He has no identity of thyself. He has been brainwashed. Tiger is another victim. The day we expand our minds and see what is really going on out there, will be the day we appreciate our kind again. Until then, the cycle will continue to happen.

I think people should worry bout themselves, especially if they are so called christians. Telling a black man something is wrong in his head because he prefers another race make you just as racist as a white man. The problem is black women only want black men and black men enjoy all women. Instead of making it a competition or bigger then what it is, worry about you and the right man will come.

I agree wholeheartedly with Wes. Some black women (not all) and quite a few opportunistic brothas (and it always seems to be the lighter skinned brothas) believe that it is a zero sum game. There is this idea if a black man dates white women, he automatically does not like or respect black women. Lest we not forget that Tiger Woods actually dated Tyra Banks when he was at Stanford, and I’m pretty sure she was the one that broke the relationship off.

Tiger is a bad example because I can count on one hand the number of times I’ve seen black women anywhere near a golf course…especially west of the Mississippi River. Unlike most pro athletes in the major sports, there really aren’t many sistas for him to choose from..he’d have to go out of his way to make that happen. Besides, most Asian women want either full-blooded Asian men or white men. Tiger is too black for most Asian women and not nearly black enough for many sistas. Remember, Tiger is more Asian than Black (Earl Woods Sr. was part Chinese).

On the subject of IR-dating, it is my observation that lighter black men are always the ones that preach on the virtues of racial pride and same-race dating. My fellow darker-skinned brothas seem to get the most attention from white women…white women (generally) feel that if you are going to go black…GO BLACK..not kinda black. They are attracted to skin contrast and so they seek those that are physically the most different (but have a great deal in common with culturally).

My theory is that lighter (or darker and “pretty”) black men find black women with relative ease, so they have little reason to date outside their race. If you are an attractive Morris Chestnut-type or a good-looking light skinned dude…in a largely black environment, you’ll never leave black women. Your perspective becomes skewed because you’ve had so much success and have been given the full devotion and attention of every sista that you have dated. In your opinion sistas are perfect…why wouldn’t they be…they’ve given you everything you ever wanted…or at least more than what other brothas can extract. Conversely, it seems that white women always go for the black men that black women “respect” and admire but aren’t as romantically attracted to. White women often go for either an uber-masculine, dark or dorky sort of man…often a combination of the three. These brothas may be attracted to all women but when their game works on a white woman, they realize that their “skill-set” is more adapted towards having success with white women. Once you date a couple of white women (assuming your experiences are positive), it becomes easier to stick to what you know…not out of animosity towards sistas but just finding a comfort zone and knowing what works. Similar to how brothas that succeed with sistas when they are young….often stay with sistas because they are more confident. They believe they know what to expect when approaching black women.

The brothas that insist on staying in their race (after dating a couple of white women) do so because they didn’t date outside to find a true match. They did not take their IR flings seriously and pursued trashy women…then used that sliver of knowledge as proof…a sort of confirmation bias. This works in reverse for brothas that date mostly white and decide to date sistas….they know they prefer white women..so they seek out black women that confirm their worst stereotypes.

Honestly though…most brothas that are honest and not trying to be kiss a**** will admit that women of all races are attractive…and that love is more about shared interest/values…not “race.”

I think Black people can be very naive. When Black men are done with White women these females make Black women pay on the job market, etc. They can be very evil, I can totally testify about this. Also, I heard recently about a black man who married a white woman. His spouse shot at a black man who broke in their home. Guess where she shot him? Between his legs, she emasculated him! We all know about the black raper myth! On a conscious or unconscious level she believed in this myth and she acted accordingly to this. The fact that she married a black man didn’t change anything with this female bigot mindset. This situation speaks volume about what America did to our black men historically. To finish, how can our people trust a race who makes sure that we only have 2% of their wealth even if we are the one who built this country. How can we be so stupid???
