Most of us hate to see the year end, but there is one good thing: the chance for a new start and a new beginning. Of course, that typically involves making resolutions and the usual suspects of better health, more wealth and an overall better you! For others it may simply mean spending more time with family. Whatever your goals are, why not let this be the year you focus on taking better care of you!

Throughout the year, many of us are busy working, being students, taking care of a family or all of the above. While in the midst of all of the things you do throughout the year, make sure to make time for yourself. This means taking care of your mind, body and soul.

The most important thing is your physical health. Begin by scheduling appointments for annual physicals, vision, dental and other annual check -ups. Also, try to eat healthier, drink the proverbial eight glasses of water, get plenty of sleep, and incorporate more physical activity into your daily routine. These simple things will help you look and feel better.

Take more time out for yourself to relax and do things you enjoy. Occasionally plan a day to go to the spa for the ultimate pampering or a “girls night out” with your friends. When your budget allows get a manicure and pedicure for yourself. Also dress up and treat yourself to dinner with friends or family for a fun night out. There are numerous things you can do to enjoy yourself, lie taking up a hobby or reviving an old one that you once enjoyed such as playing an instrument, sewing, painting or reading.

Don’t forget the simple things like relaxing your mind. For some people this may be through prayer, meditation or having some type of spiritual time. This is extremely important because it relaxes the mind and body which helps to reduce your stress.

Finally, learn to treat yourself well. Use those special lingerie, linens, dishes, stem ware and aromatic candles for yourself, not just for your guest or entertaining. Remember life is short and should not be taken for granted. So enjoy your life and your nice things yourself or someone else will. Let this year be more than a New Year but also a new you!
