Posted by December 28, 2009……Austin, TX – State Representative Barbara Mallory Caraway has announced the dates for her free Spring College Entrance Exam Prep Course. The next course will begin on Saturday, January 16, 2010 and will be held every Saturday for six weeks from 8:30 am to 12:30 pm through Saturday, February 20, 2010. Each course will be held at the Bill J. Priest Institute located at 1402 Corinth Street in Dallas.
The course is designed to help high school students prepare for taking college entrance exams such as the SAT and ACT and there is no cost to participants. Enrollment space is limited. Anyone interested in participating should contact Shana Johnson in Representative Mallory Caraway’s Dallas District Office at (214) 941-4619. The deadline for registration is Thursday, January 8, 2010.

Students ranging from high school sophomores to seniors are encouraged to take advantage of the program. Participants in the 2009 Spring and Fall programs not only saw an increase in their college entrance exam scores, but learned test-taking tips and received free tutorials in lower-performing areas.
The “College Entrance Exam Prep Course” is an extension of the “Career Futures Initiative” started by Representative Barbara Mallory Caraway in 2008 with a job fair to provide paid summer internships for high school students. “The Career Futures Initiative” is public/private partnership designed to give students 16 years old and older first-hand knowledge and practical experience in the fields of math, science, technology, and social networking.
