Barbara Mallory Caraway announces local Instructor’s Ornament to Hang on Official State Capitol Tree

OrnamentDecember 4, 2009……Austin, TX. – State Representative Barbara Mallory Caraway has selected a Christmas ornament designed by Felicia Whitfield to hang on House of Representatives Christmas tree in the Texas Capitol Building. The tree is located in the House Chamber.

The hand painted design highlights the state’s lone-star red white and blue flag on a clear ball background along with red and green holly. A “Happy Holidays from District 110″ greeting painted in bright red and white is also on the ornament.

Felicia Whitfield’s ornament, along with other special ornaments from throughout the state, was place on the Official Texas House Tree in a ceremony in the House Chamber on Friday, December 4. The House Christmas Tree and decoration ceremony is a long standing tradition in the state capitol building. The 2009 tree is a live Loblolly Pine from Elgin, Texas and stands 20 feet tall. The name of this year’s tree is the “Lone Star Celebration Christmas Tree”.

Mrs. Whitfield, in her 5th year as Art Instructor at Fellowship Christian Academy. Felicia Whitfield is a twenty year resident of the Dallas area. She is also served as the Chairperson of the Association of Christian Schools International over the past 4 years.
