Renee Hartley, President of the Dallas Young Democrats of America was elected to the group’s national Board of Directors at their 2009 convention in Chicago earlier this month. Hartley is one of three vice-presidents on the YDA Board. She served the local chapter in a number of capacities before being elected Dallas County president in February of this year.
Renee was born in Pensacola, Florida, and is an alumni of Grambling State University. She and her husband Don were married in 1998 and have 3 children. Renee started blogging about the same time that I did when she created the Blue Island Blog. She is extremely passionate about the Democratic Party and has worked diligently during local, state, and national elections.
Young Democrats of America is a partisan group who mobilizes citizens under the age of 35 to participate in the political process. They have more than 1,500 chapters in 46 states and U.S. Territories.
