The DFW Association of Black Journalists (DFW/ABJ) will salute Norma Adams Wade, longtime Dallas Morning News Columnist at the African-American Museum in Fair Park on Tuesday September 15 at 6 PM.

Also at the meeting, DFW/ABJ will introduce their new Board and Officers, as well as recognize the outgoing leadership of President Stephen Wright from NBC 5.  Cheryl Smith of The Dallas Weekly is the incoming president of the organization.

I remember when Ms. Wade’s weekly column was the way to really know what what was happening in the local African-American community.  Even in the internet/blogging age, I still learn about places and events from her writings that I don’t find in any other media outlet.

Ms. Wade is a founder of the National Association of Black Journalists.  She was part of a group of 44 men and women who brought NABJ to life in Washington D.C. on December 12, 1975.  I can’t believe I just learned that fact this week.

Anyone interested in making a presentation to Ms. Wade during the program can call 972-572-0088.
